Presidential Politics in the Year of the Toad - 3
by Boozer Allan Hamilton Ph.D.

So now begins the US early its Year of the Toad. Not so big a deal for most citizens seeming unlikely to heed words often attributed to Benjamin Franklin (eds: wrongly, it seems) that any nation trading security for liberty deserves neither. US citizens love words Democracy and Freedom but not manifestations, whatever those turn out to be. Voting a futile exercise there in USA, choices constrained long before common citizen allowed vote, noted decades earlier by Sartre, among others. The automatic mechanism in control: not being allowed to think outside socially constrained norms, prevents bulk from influencing potentially allowable. Same true perhaps in Britain, but BAH's research not completed.
What seems surreally real: polarization behind two political parties with such small differentiation. Like adolescent rallying behind cliques or teams, maybe like USA high school politics. Corporate media trumps up false competetion adding to illusion of choice.
Unseen within USA is reality that citizenry not in anger their government unleashes brutal military composed of rag-head haters in new crusade as ostensibly religious as were originals. Instead find selves angry their crusade proves as futile as originals. No anger for carnage unleashed on Iraqis making Saddam seem the gentle control freak, but because once again they appear stupid and feckless. Little chimp leader and clowns promised easy victory, profitable enterprise paid by grateful Iraqi peoples loving generous, heroic comrades of USA bestowing freedom. USA citizenry approved by 80% this poorly disguised grab for power and control of strategic swath of middle east, for bases from which to threaten any and all who defy Master Empire. Claiming US invaded Iraq for bringing democracy, code for establishing colonial puppet state. US citizens now angered scheme didn't work out. But given possibility to force Iraqis to do as told, US citizenry would support even now.
Voting mass ought consider following true statement and following question.
America does world favor sending shock troops into Iraq. After 911 world showed sympathy, but irrationally lashing out like wounded animal in trap USA shows world true face. Vicious mongrel attacking innocents for control while claiming good intents is akin to work by two famous European politicians near middle of first half of last century. To label people fighting occupation of their country terrorists and criminals and outside agitators is classical rationalization. To blame puppet regime for failure of occupying forces to silence insurgents is code for admitting defeat in attempted conquest and occupation (one thing to conquer, another to hold, control and engulf).
Does desire of USA to conquer middle east imply desire to conquer world? So the history now claims regarding those two European politicians referenced above. In their time, it was not so thought. In Europe was question of treaties as USA sat out, and USA never declared war on major European aggressor even after entering conflict.
Election simply predictable given what is called internationally US Political Cap, that is to say US predilection for electing pols no more intelligent than third quartile of populace at large. Most likely is election within second quartile, as with Bush. But since extant field now barely makes it within second quartile, likelihood of electing anyone of more intellectual capacity than current clown near zero.
To be plainly speaking now, anyone favoring Iraqi misadventure can be no conservative, as Bush follows ancient colonial policies of 1960's liberals (where neoconservatism avoided suffocation by educated fools of Democratic Party). Media claims pressure on Democrats now in Congress from left, but real pressure comes from realpolitik. Reality is only jackasses and idiots support Iraq debacle by this time. Face it, current US regime move to control middle east through Iraq a total failure. Allies sharing goal warned US, but stubborn clowns proceeded forward, falling for Iranian scheme to do what Iran could not itself make. Iranian intelligence outfoxed US intelligence under control of US ideologues, guided by phony intel from Iranian agents befriending ideologues and Vice-President himself. Now US potentially handing control of middle east to Iran. Once again, muscle-bound dimwitted USA flexes powerful military to benefit of enemies.
We who are outsiders see USA as "generous" so long as we do as it commands and pay it dividends in the long run. In other words, we got your number. You citizens there, good luck with the toad you will "elect" from the slate foisted on you by overlords of your "democracy." Not that you lot care for choices. Paraphrasing Mick Jagger, you can't get what you want, but you just might get what you deserve. In fact, you already got what you deserve. We await your dividends.
